d\u2019appellation commerciale et si tous les mod\u00e8les \u00e9voqu\u00e9s s\u2019inscrivent dans la continuit\u00e9, le choix de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1965 pour ouvrir la p\u00e9riode \u00e9tudi\u00e9e se justifie par l\u2019apparition d\u2019une nouvelle carrosserie. Avec une silhouette plus longue et plus basse, cette carrosserie se caract\u00e9rise \u00e0 l\u2019avant par un nouveau positionnement vertical des optiques rondes permettant un \u00e9largissement de la calandre et \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re par un pare-choc droit du fait de la quasi disparition des fameux ailerons. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, les vitres lat\u00e9rales sont incurv\u00e9es. Un ch\u00e2ssis cadre \u00e0 traverses remplace avantageusement le peu rigide mod\u00e8le en \"X\". La finition Fleetwood Eldorado offre sur les panneaux de porti\u00e8res des inserts en bois entour\u00e9s de chrome et r\u00e9hauss\u00e9s de l'embl\u00e8me Cadillac compos\u00e9 des armoiries et de la couronne ainsi qu'en option, deux si\u00e8ges s\u00e9par\u00e9s par une console pouvant \u00eatre verrouill\u00e9e et distribuant directement de l'air chaud \u00e0 l'arri\u00e8re. Les phares retrouvent le positionnement horizontal abandonn\u00e9 pour le mod\u00e8le 1965 et viennent se loger dans les deux d\u00e9crochements horizontaux introduits l\u2019ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. La calandre simplifi\u00e9e voit sa largeur r\u00e9duite mais elle n\u2019est plus coup\u00e9e dans sa partie inf\u00e9rieure par le pare-choc. D\u2019autre part, les feux qu\u2019elle abritait l\u2019ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente sont d\u00e9port\u00e9s sur les feux lat\u00e9raux agrandis qui du coup gagnent la pointe des ailes. La disparition des d\u00e9flecteurs qui s\u2019inscrit dans la modernisation de la ligne est d\u2019abord critiqu\u00e9e. Cadillac peine \u00e0 unifier la couleur de ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments avec le reste de la voiture. Les feux verticaux situ\u00e9s sur la pointe de l\u2019aile disparaissent et les feux lat\u00e9raux reprennent le dessin introduit pour le mod\u00e8le 1969 mais avec une longueur diminu\u00e9e sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l\u2019aile. Les fausses prises d\u2019air disparaissent et le moulage lat\u00e9ral chrom\u00e9 reprend sa place sur toute la longueur de la carrosserie.
